A collective editorial guide
Your first step for the coast
A good first step fits your time, interests and circumstances. Tell us what you can offer, ask what would be useful and let us work out the details together.

This is a getting-started guide, not an event announcement. Confirm the location, time, supervision and a contact with the team before you travel.
Volunteer: start with what you can do
You might be interested in a supervised cleanup, keeping notes, organizing supplies or sharing approved information. Mention your city, a broad idea of your availability and the kind of task you would enjoy. Ask about the task, access and equipment before agreeing to take part.
Ask about volunteeringStudents: bring a small idea
Students can ask about helping record information, making approved learning materials or joining a supervised activity. If you are under 18, have a parent, guardian or teacher coordinate with us. An adult should arrange participation before you make plans.
Ask as a studentTeachers and groups: plan around your people
Start with your group’s approximate ages, size, interests and available adult supervision. A classroom discussion or a simple observation activity may be a useful place to begin. Ask the team what can be arranged and wait for a reply before promising an activity to your group.
Ask for a class or groupSupplies and practical help: ask first
Before buying, collecting or dropping anything off, ask what is useful. Describe the items or practical help you can offer, the approximate quantity and when you could make them available. Wait for a reply to confirm the need and arrangements.
Ask about suppliesA clear question is enough to start. Thank you for making room in your day for the coast and for the people who share it.
